Getting to know Elektra Cruiser Bikes

The cruiser bike is an old bike design of a one speed bike that was not meant to be used in the sport of cycling, but instead offers fun, comfort and durability to every owner that has ever owned one. An Elektra cruiser bike will give you that sense of timeless adventure much like the kids of the 40's and 50's used to have. With classic styling inspired by the extravagant automobiles from the second half of the past century and the mechanical breakthroughs of today, Elektra cruiser bikes give off the sense that you have great taste in bikes.
What makes a cruiser bike a cruiser bike, you might ask. Cruiser bikes were made way before the present renaissance that they are enjoying now. The bike became popular after the great depression, where most people still believed that bikes were primarily for cycling and recreation instead of a serious transportation option. A sturdier and heavier steel frame paired with fat balloon tires, the cruiser set out to conquer the youth market who wanted an edgier bike that could get by with the stress of daily riding. Many of these bikes featured either a double top brace or a false gas tan on the top brace, and swooping automobile inspired design pieces. In fact, many of these bikes looked like motorcycles with the engines removed. By the sixties, multi-speed bikes began to replace the aging one speed cruiser, and the design fell into disfavor.
In the nineties, the Elektra brand opened up and began to reintroduce the cruiser design. With past cruiser owners' way past the age of speed and edginess, the reintroduction of leisurely driving Elektra cruiser bikes was a welcome sight. The bikes also had a nostalgic and classic element that spunky youths began to take a liking to it. This easygoing and sturdy bicycle had more comfort and style to boot. Steadily, recognition for the cruiser leisure bikes flooded and with the current speed of information, it became something that was universally noticed. Eventually, alternative kids of today's generation incorporated the one speed cruiser bicycle into their style and ethos of subdued cool. Now, Elektra cruiser bikes are widely known for the authentic vintage styling and fine bike craftsmanship.
Elektra Cruiser bikes come in an array of designs and colors. There are two different classes for men and women. The cruiser bikes for women have the top braces sloping towards the pedal for easier mounting and use while wearing a skirt. The Coaster is a more fluid type design with influences from modern chopper motorcycles evident in its frame. The Zarape is a classic cruiser with an unmistakable false gas tank, with a classic light blue paint job. The Courier is a whimsical classic with a panel between the two top braces with the Electra logo written on it. It is a nod to the mailmen of the past who often delivered post while riding cruiser bikes.
Whatever your lifestyle orientations are, whether aggressive and speedy or leisurely and cool, the Elektra cruiser bikes extended family has a bicycle for you
